Airtel Malawi has donated K9.4 million towards supporting the training of professional health personnel in the country.

Public Relations and corporate communications manager for Airtel, Edith Tsilizani said the donation is a continuation of the same programme which started in 2012.
Tsilizani said the K9.4Million will help to train 10 nurses this year alone.
"This is a gesture of continued commitment to developing the health sector, education, and the wellbeing of people in the country," said Tsilizani.
According to the PRO, most nurses have graduated and are now practising in the industry.
"Airtel Malawi realises that Malawi Government faces an enormous challenges to meet targets on health and education under the Millenium Development Goals(MDGs) and we are very keen to complement government efforts," said Tsilizani.
Receiving the cheque, Safe Motherhood coordinator, Chimwemwe Chipungu, commended Airtel Malawi for the timely help.
"Since the programme of training the community Midwifery assistants (CMAs) started in 2011 by Madam Callista Mutharika, we are very proud to say that so far 333 CMAs have been trained and deployed in various health facilities across the country,"
"As of now we have 352 students in various Christian Health Association of Malawi (CHAM) nursing colleges,"said Chipungu.
Chipungu disclosed that 145 CMAs will seat for exams in April 2016.
